The Humanism and Science Foundation, driven by the mission to help individuals become aware of the vast, untapped potential within humanity\u2014potential that has yet to be developed\u2014so they may access and harness the full reservoir of energy and knowledge at the core of their own nature, thus opening the door to their infinite human potential, and with the aim of recognizing and promoting initiatives that disseminate and make accessible the latest frontiers of human knowledge, announces the first edition of the Carlos Zapata Scientific Outreach Award.<\/p>\n

The works presented must be works of scientific dissemination about Quantum Mechanics, Neuroscience and Science \u2013 Consciousness.<\/p>\n

The originals must have been written in Spanish and published in Spain in the years 2019 and 2020.<\/p>\n

FINANCIAL ENDOWMENT OF THE PRIZE<\/h5>\n

A single indivisible prize is established, endowed with the amount of \u20ac30,000 gross.<\/p>\n

Complete Bases<\/h4>\n

1.- INTRODUCTION<\/h2>\n

The Humanism and Science Foundation (hereinafter Foundation), with the aim of helping individuals become aware of the vast unexplored potential that resides in humanity and that has not been developed until now, so that they have access to and can use the full flow of energy and knowledge that is at the base of their own nature and that opens the doors to their infinite human capacity and in order to recognise and encourage initiatives to disseminate and make accessible the latest frontiers of human knowledge, announces the first edition of the Carlos Zapata Prize for Scientific Dissemination.
For the purposes of these rules, works of scientific dissemination will be considered to be those books for the popular dissemination of scientific knowledge.<\/p>\n

2.- PARTICIPANTS<\/h2>\n

All writers, regardless of their nationality or origin, are eligible to apply for the award, provided that the submitted works meet the criteria described in the following section.<\/p>\n

3.- CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORKS<\/h2>\n

Submitted works must be works of scientific dissemination on Quantum Mechanics, Neuroscience, Mind, and Consciousness. They must be original and written in Spanish, and the first edition of the book must have been published in Spain between 2019 and 2020.
The author(s) must own the rights to the text and images to avoid third-party claims. The intellectual property rights belonging to the author may have been assigned to the publisher whose imprint the submitted work was published by.<\/p>\n

4.- FORM AND DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF WORKS<\/h2>\n

Participants must send a physical copy of the work along with their contact information to the headquarters of the Humanism and Science Foundation, located in Madrid, Calle Guzm\u00e1n el Bueno, No. 66, 1\u00ba B (28015).
If the work is selected as a finalist, four additional copies or a digital edition will be requested.
The submission period for original works will open on April 1, 2021, and close on June 30, 2021, inclusive.
Applications submitted outside the specified deadlines will not be accepted, nor will incorrect or incomplete applications, or those submitted through channels other than those established in these rules, be considered.
If the submission arrives after that date, but the postmark is on or before that date, it will be accepted. Once the jury's decision has been issued, copies of the non-winning works will be available for 30 days for collection from the location specified by the Foundation, at the participants' expense. Works not collected will be destroyed without any claim. By submitting their entries for the Prize, the authors accept these rules and agree not to collect their work.
No correspondence will be maintained with the contestants nor will any information regarding the Prize's progress be provided until the decision is issued.
Only one application may be submitted per author, regardless of whether the work is individual or collaborative.<\/p>\n

5.- EVALUATION CRITERIA<\/h3>\n

Throughout the selection process and the selection of the winner(s), consideration will be given to scientific interest, quality of dissemination, creativity, the language used in the work, the success achieved in disseminating the scientific subject, the materials developed and used, as well as anything that represents an achievement and innovation in dissemination for the expansion of scientific culture in society.\u00a0<\/p>\n

6.- JURY AND VERDICT<\/h4>\n

The jury will be appointed by the Foundation's Board of Trustees at its sole discretion, applying, in all cases, the majority system established by law and by statute.
The jury members will be individuals of recognized prestige linked to the world of science, research, literature, and dissemination. No member of the jury or the Foundation's Board of Trustees may participate in the competition. Neither may employees or third parties contractually linked to the members of the jury or the Foundation's Board of Trustees participate.
The jury's decision will be final and the prize may not be declared void or ex aequo.
The jury will evaluate the applications and select the winner(s) of the Prize.<\/p>\n

7.- FINANCIAL ENDOWMENT OF THE PRIZE<\/h4>\n

A single, indivisible prize is established, endowed with the amount of thirty thousand euros (\u20ac30,000) gross, on which taxes will be levied and the applicable withholdings will be made in accordance with Spanish legislation.<\/p>\n

8.- AWARD DECISION<\/h4>\n

The jury's decision will be announced on September 30, 2021. However, the Foundation reserves the right to extend this deadline for one more month.
Both the aforementioned extension of the deadline and the decision will be communicated personally to the winners.<\/p>\n

9.- DATE AND PLACE OF DELIVERY<\/h4>\n

Following the publication of the jury's decision, the official award ceremony will take place at a specific event. This ceremony, which cannot yet be determined due to the special circumstances of the pandemic, will be announced by the Foundation once the award decision is published, within a maximum of one month from that date and at least one month in advance.<\/p>\n

10.- INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY<\/h4>\n

The intellectual property rights of the works submitted to the competition will remain exclusively with the authors or the natural or legal persons to whom they have been transferred.<\/p>\n

11. LEGISLATION AND JURISDICTION<\/h4>\n

This notice is governed by Spanish law. For any dispute that must be resolved through judicial means, the parties, waiving their own jurisdiction, expressly submit to the jurisdiction of the Courts and Tribunals of the city of Madrid.<\/p>\n

12.- CONFIDENTIALITY AND DATA PROTECTION.<\/h4>\n

All documentation submitted by participants in this competition will be considered confidential by the HUMANISM AND SCIENCE FOUNDATION staff and the Jury who have access to it during the process of receiving, evaluating, and selecting applications.
Those wishing to participate authorize the dissemination of the names and general characteristics of the initiatives and projects presented within the framework of this competition, as well as the potential conduct of interviews before or after the awards ceremony.
The confidentiality of submitted applications is guaranteed throughout the process. In any case, the general characteristics of the applications may be disseminated, along with the names of the selected candidates and winners, their projects, logos, activities, and main achievements, as well as the members of the dissemination team.
Personal data will be collected by the HUMANISM AND SCIENCE FOUNDATION for the purpose of processing registration and participation in the Disclosure Awards. By submitting their data, the person wishing to participate EXPRESSLY CONSENTS to the processing described above. The data recorded, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016\/679 of April 27 (GDPR), Organic Law 3\/2018 of December 5 (LOPDGDD) and Law (ES) 1\/1982 on civil protection, the right to honor, personal and family privacy and one's own image, will be used solely by the HUMANISM AND SCIENCE FOUNDATION for the purposes set forth in these rules and, if you are a winner, for the purposes of managing the prize.
In this regard, participants are informed that the processing of data for the fulfillment of the stated purposes and to make the transfer of the participant's image rights effective, necessarily implies the communication of personal data to the general public, as well as to third-party media or providers of hosting and\/or dissemination services for content on the Internet, social networks and other media derived from their participation in the contest and the Event.
Therefore, it is hereby informed that the HUMANISM AND SCIENCE FOUNDATION, with registered office at C\/Guzm\u00e1n el Bueno, 66, 1\u00ba-B; 28015 Madrid (email: info@xxxxxx.com), is the Data Controller for the personal data of the Data Subject and informs you that said data will be processed in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016\/679 of April 27 (GDPR), Organic Law 3\/2018 of December 5 (LOPDGDD), and Spanish Law 1\/1982 on civil protection of the right to honor, personal and family privacy, and one\u2019s own image.\n\nThe purpose of the data processing is the management of registrations and participation in the Scientific Outreach Awards and, in the case of winning, the administration of all matters related to the award itself. The data will not be retained for longer than necessary to fulfill this purpose, and once no longer needed, it will be securely deleted.\n\nBy participating in the contest, participants consent to the taking of photographs and\/or the recording of videos or audio related to the contest and its call, and, if applicable, during the award ceremony (\u201cEvent\u201d), either by the HUMANISM AND SCIENCE FOUNDATION or by photographers invited to the event.\n\nThis authorization includes the capture of images and\/or voice.
